Dourado breaks maiden in fine style
Dourado justified the high opinion held of him on Saturday with a fluent display to take the 7 1/2f maiden at Lingfield.
Sent off the odds on favourite following two promising runs, the son of Dark Angel showed a fine turn of foot to take advantage of a gap through horses and win going away by two-and-a-half lengths under Tom Marquand. His win capped an excellent day for Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar that was highlighted by the win of Aljazzi in the Listed Dick Hern Stakes at Haydock Park.
The Richard Hannon-trained Dourado was purchased by Tony Nerses for 130,000gns from Knockatrina House Stud at Book 2 of last year’s Tattersalls October Sale.
Bred by Canice Farrell, he is a brother to the winning Ambriel and half-brother to four other winners. He is the eighth foal out of Skehana, a winning Mukaddamah half-sister to top sprinter Fayr Jag.
