Homebred Yuften breaks maiden in style at Newmarket
Blue Diamond Stud homebred Yuften justified the high opinion held of him when breaking his maiden at Newmarket by an impressive 7 lengths. The Invincible Spirit colt, trained by William Haggas, was always prominent in the mile contest and only needed to be shaken up by Andrea Atzeni to draw away and win unchallenged.
“He did it nicely and is a promising type,” said Maureen Haggas.
Yuften is the sixth foal out of the King’s Best mare Majestic Sakeena (pictured right) and a half-brother to dual Listed winner Nouriya as well as the Listed-placed Lady Nouf. He holds a number of big race entries, including the St. James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.
On the same Newmarket card, Toofi turned in a creditable effort to run second in the King Charles II Stakes for Roger Varian. The Henrythenavigator colt was beaten just 1/2 length by the winner, Coulsty.
