Winner of the Darley Stakes (Gr.3)

Euginio was a tough campaigner for us while under the care of Richard Hannon, winning five races and close to £140,000.

Bought for 155,000gns by Tony Nerses as a yearling, he was successful first time out as a two-year-old at Wolverhampton and developed into a fine handicapper at three, when his runs included victories at Sandown and Doncaster.

The Fastnet Rock colt returned even better at four, however, to finish in the frame in six of his races, notably when second in the Listed Wolferton Handicap at Royal Ascot. A very productive season was ultimately capped by a much deserved breakthrough at Group level in the Darley Stakes at Newmarket; given time to find his stride by Hayley Turner, he showed a fine change of gear once the gap appeared to run down Forest Ranger and win a shade cosily by a neck.
