This beautifully-bred son of Henrythenavigator was produced by Silver Bark, a sister to Grade One winner Ticker Tape. She is also a half-sister to Sant Elena, the dam of Group One winner and sire Reckless Abandon.

A 220,000gns purchase at Tattersalls’ October Yearling Sale in 2012, Toofi was sent into training with Roger Varian in Newmarket and saddled for his first race at Ascot in July 2013. Third on that occasion, he progressed to take second in a Newmarket July Course maiden, and then headed to the Rowley Mile for the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Trophy.

Under jockey William Buick he quickened clear a furlong out and won impressively.

Toofi returned the following year to run second in the King Charles II Stakes at Newmarket. Now a four-year-old, he remains in training with Roger Varian, for whom he was recently second in the Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood.
