Promising Azraff scores at Newmarket
After several encouraging runs in maiden company, Azraff proved he was a colt with plenty of ability when capturing his nursery debut at Newmarket by 2 lengths. Bought for 57,000gns by Tony Nerses as a yearling, Azraff is from the first crop of Paco Boy and out of the Group 3-placed Gee Kel.
His victory came a day after rapid improver Buredyma had made it three out of four for William Haggas with a game victory over a mile at Yarmouth.
“She jumped out well and when they came at her she just went again,” stable representative Susan Piggott told the Racing Post. “Liam (Jones) said that she just had dull moment and that when he changed his hands she went away again.”
