Riviera Nights impresses again
Riviera Nights looked a colt with a future when romping to victory at Brighton earlier this month, an impression he confirmed in great style for Richard Hannon on Saturday when making short work of the mile nursery at Ripon.
Ridden by Hayley Turner, the progressive son of Kingman broke well and made all to win unchallenged by nearly three lengths from Dark Thunder, to whom he was giving six pounds. The ease of his win prompted the Racing Post to comment that Riviera Nights ‘should develop into a useful colt at up to 1m2f next year’.
From the first crop of Kingman, homebred Riviera Nights is the third foal and second winner out of Turama after the Frankel colt Zefferino. Turama, purchased by Tony Nerses as a yearling, is a Pivotal half-sister to the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes heroine Spinning Queen and last year’s Listed scorer Natavia and a granddaughter of blue hen Lady Blackfoot.
Turama has a filly foal by Invincible Spirit and was one of a number of mares that we sent to our multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight this season.
