Second win on the bounce for Heiba
Heiba maintained his progression for Robert Cowell on Monday with a smooth performance to win the 5f handicap at Lingfield.
Reunited with Graham Gibbons, Heiba tracked the leader and once asked, took up the running a furlong out and held on to win a shade cosily from Stormflower. It was his second win on the bounce for Cowell following a Newcastle maiden.
“Heiba is not a slow horse as you can see, but we had reservations about the track when we came here,” Cowell told the Racing Post. “He´s done it well and gained confidence from his maiden win at Newcastle last time out. He´ll be campaigned during the winter and hopefully he can progress in handicaps.”
The strapping son of Starspangledbanner was purchased by Tony Nerses for 110,000gns out of the Houghton Bloodstock draft at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Sale. He was bred by Fergus Cousins out of American Listed winner Pina Colada, the dam of three other winners. Further back, it is the family of Canford Cliffs.
