Tough Euginio strikes again
Euginio continued his progression through the ranks on Thursday with a smooth victory in the 1m2f handicap at Doncaster.
Ridden by Andrea Atzeni, Euginio took up the running a furlong and a half out and kept on well to deny Another Eclipse by a neck. It was the third win in nine starts for the colt, who now boasts over £50,000 in earnings for trainer Richard Hannon.
“Euginio is in the Cambridgeshire Handicap,” Richard Hannon told the Racing Post.
“He’s been very slow to come to hand and I think the track suited him here. He’ll be a lovely horse next year when it all comes together and I could see him making up into something like a Group 3 horse. He’d have liked better ground today too.”
Bred by Arkle Bloodstock, Euginio was purchased as a yearling by Tony Nerses for 155,000gns out of the Clare Castle Stud draft at the 2015 Tattersalls October Sale.
The son of Fastnet Rock is a half-brother to Listed winner Handassa and out of Starstone, a Diktat half-sister to top sprinters Pastoral Pursuits and Goodricke.
