Two on the bounce for promising BDS-bred Hector Loza

Hector Loza, bred by Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar at Blue Diamond Stud, showed a fine change of gear to land his second victory in just three starts at Lingfield on Thursday.

The son of Kodiac made light of a penalty incurred for his win at Chelmsford City to run down the odds on favourite Tell Me All and win going away by a length and a quarter.

“Hector is a very tough and hardy individual and has a great future,” trainer Simon Dow told the Racing Post.

Hector Loza is the second foal out of Queen Sarra, another bred at Blue Diamond Stud. By Shamardal, Queen Sarra is the sole foal out of the high-class racemare Grace O’Malley, whose three wins included two renewals of the Group 3 Noblesse Stakes at Cork. The daughter of Refuse To Bend, who was bought by Tony Nerses to join the stud, was also placed in the Group 3 Blue Wind and Listed Vintage Crop Stakes.

Further back, it is the good Percy’s Lass family also responsible for Derby hero Sir Percy.

Queen Sarra’s first foal is the placed filly Nooshin, a daughter of Declaration Of War currently in training for us with Charlie Hills.

Queen Sarra was among the mares we sent this season to our multiple Group 1 winner Decorated Knight.

Hector Loza is trained by Simon Dow on behalf of owner Robert Moss, who purchased the colt out of Book 1 of last year’s Tattersalls October Sale.
