Canford Cliffs filly Aneesah off the mark at Chester
Making only her second start for Roger Varian, two-year-old Aneesah justified favouritism on Friday evening to break her maiden under Philip Makin at Chester.
Aneesah had to be switched right a furlong out for her run and gamely ran down Tholen to score by a head. The pair pulled two-and-a-quarter lengths clear of the third. In the process, she became the second winner for us in as many days trained by Roger Varian following three-year-old Musaaid, the impressive winner of his maiden at Newmarket on Thursday.
A sixth winner from the first crop of her sire Canford Cliffs, Aneesah was bought by Tony Nerses for £180,000 from Manister House Stud at last year’s DBS Premier Sale.
She is the first foal out of her winning dam Decorative, a daughter of Danehill Dancer from the further family of champion Arcangues and 1,000 Guineas heroine Cape Verdi.
